Michelle Forester, LCSW

Michelle Forester is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that seeks to address the root cause of psychological symptoms in her clients and to encourage healing, self-awareness, resilience, and self-empowerment. Her therapeutic approach is holistic, eclectic, and collaborative, often drawing from her own life experience and by addressing generational trauma. At a young age, Michelle lost her mother to addiction, sex trafficking, and subsequently homicide. Her challenging youth transformed into a passion to pursue her social work career, where she could use her own experiences to relate to, and support others who suffer.

Michelle graduated with her Master’s Degree of Social Work from Florida State University in 2017. Throughout her career journey, Michelle has provided psychotherapeutic care at an inpatient psychiatric setting, at the James A. Haley VA Hospital, and as an ICU social worker during the pandemic. She has also provided mental health services in local public schools, at a skilled nursing facility, and in the juvenile justice and adoption systems. In 2021, she began working in private practice, where she has the opportunity to continue using her vast experience to impact the lives of each individual she works with.

Michelle specializes in EMDR, CBT, DBT, and harm reduction techniques with adolescents and adults. She is especially passionate about working with complex trauma and abuse survivors, first responders, military personnel, suicidal ideation, chronic illness, and with clients receiving TMS or Spravato treatments. She has experience as a preceptor for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner interns and plans to complete training to become an LCSW Qualified Supervisor in the near future.

Michelle believes that being a therapist is an incredible privilege and is humbled to be trusted with the intimate details of people's lives. She is grateful for the opportunity to work alongside clients as they discover their inner wisdom and develop the tools they need to thrive.
